You talk about standardisation – what is this and what does it involve? In the main this requires you – the learner assessor – to comply with internal procedures relating to quality assurance. It also requires you to contribute to the internal standardisation meetings in respect of the qualification you are assessing. An internal standardisation meeting will normally involve all assessors for a particular qualification and their Internal Verifier. At the meeting evidence produced by your NVQ/NOS learners and judgements made by you and your assessor colleagues will be compared to ensure that there is a level of consistency and that the decisions being made meet national standards across the team. Equally there will be consideration of evidence that has been deemed not to have met the national standard. The meeting may focus on a particular unit, an assessment method or a type of evidence. Pieces of evidence which have been assessed by you - the learner assessor - must form part of the standardisation process as it allows you to standardise your work against that of other more experienced assessors. The evidence to be produced by you to confirm your contribution will be agreed with your ENTO Direct assessor and may include minutes or notes from standardisation meetings where your NVQ/NOS learner evidence has been reviewed. Standardisation Meetings normally take place at least once every 6 months, however the timings should take account of new assessors joining the organisation and recommendations from Internal Verifier reports. |
